Why do I keep reading about members of this community flaming and degrading other people, just because they don't agree with them or their views? I can't count the number of times I've seen bronies down-voting and trash-talking other bronys' work (be it art, stories, or even the artist/author themselves), simply because they dislike the content. I don't mean they dislike it for its quality; I mean that they say it's bad and insult the person simply based on the fact that it isn't what they like, even if it is technically sound and otherwise done well.
Not only that, but whenever someone outside the fandom expresses their dislike for the cartoon and/or bronies in general, there's undoubtedly a comment from an angry brony (or twenty) cussing that person out, telling them (quite rudely) why they are so wrong.
What was our motto again? Oh yeah, "Love and Tolerate".
The thing is, I'd hardly know it, given all the hate I've seen going around. Let me tell you, bronies can be really nasty sometimes; not only to haters, but to each other.
Now, I don't know about all of you, but I was raised with the instructions "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all". You know what I do when I see fanart or a fanfic that depicts something I don't like? I stay away from it. You know what I do when someone says that they don't like the show or the community? I hear them out, and reason with them. Even if they resort to cursing and name-calling, I try to take the high road. What I DON'T do is try to force my views on them.
As bronies, no matter how much we disagree with someone, we should always try to be KIND and RESPECTFUL!
Why is this such a hard concept for some people to grasp? The whole point of this community is that we're supposed to be kind-hearted and accepting; an open-minded bunch that respects others' views and preferences, even if we don't necessarily agree with them. To see some of us acting in the exact opposite manner is utterly appalling, and it reflects poorly on the community as a whole.
Bronies, I am disappoint.
